An oil-field company interested in storing chemicals and explosives in north Minot, N.D. received conditional support from the area’s Planning Commission.
No public opposition to the request came from Integrated Production Services.
Minot fire officials are cautious about the project, although they believe the location is the best that could be found on a temporary basis.
The storage request is a sign of oil activity coming into the Minot area more quickly than facilities can accommodate.
Planners recommend that the city council approve the permit for only a year, that the fire department conduct regular inspections, and that relocation plans be provided in six months.
