South Dakota Milk Recall Issued

May 28, 2008

The South Dakota Agriculture Department issued a recall of all half-gallon, 1 percent Hy-Vee Health Market Milk with a product code date before June 2nd.

The milk has been recalled for a potential health risk due to improper pasteurization.

Officials advise consumers not drink the milk.

Unpasteurized milk may contain E. coli, Salmonella, and other harmful bacteria that can cause life-threatening illness for some people.

Officials say half-gallon, 1 percent Hy-Vee Health Market Milk with a product code dated after June 2nd is safe for human consumption.

Milk from the potentially tainted batch may be returned to Hy-Vee for a refund.
