Fargo police are investigating vandalism that left a church basement flooded after pipes froze and burst.
Fire Department Captain LeRoy Skarloken says most of the basement windows had been broken at the Bible Baptist Church, letting in freezing air.
Skarloken says the basement was filled with about 18 inches of water, and the accumulation of water caused the furnace to stop. The top 2 inches of water froze.
The vandalism was discovered over the weekend. It’s not known when it occurred, because no one had been at the church in some time.
