Why? Because his immigration status will be revoked after his release from prison. I can infer from this article that he has not become a citizen and after a fellony conviction he will be deported upon release from prison.

    Buh-bye!

Immigration can often be an issue, legal or illegal status. It is more common than not that immigrants do not hold to the same values as the average American citizen. Their culture is quite often different than ours and they feel they should follow what they perceive to be the rules, laws, etc. That is not to say that there is a tremendous amount of illegal, immoral activity done my non-immigrants but why do you think the prison population, the number of traffic citations, the number of accidents, and so forth are perpetrated by ethnic groups ? I know I\’m not being politically correct but I am being honest and I can back up the above statement, very easily.

    So, superjuster, back it up.

The fact remains, that this \”perp\’s\” immigration status does not add nor take away from the story.

Despite what Frank says, you cannot infer anything about his time in the US. Even if you could, the \”irony\” would be lost on most readers, unless you are specifically asked to give a reason for the mention of his citizenship.

Superjuster makes a claim that crimes and misdemeanors are committed by ethnic groups. apparently, superjuster is a native american, who is not part of a immigrant ethnic group, such as italian, polish, russian, in addition to other non-white \”ethnicities\”. (BTW, if you want to say non-white people, superjuster, don\’t try to soften your post, just say it.)

The simple fact is this. Someone defrauded someone else. He was in the country legally at the time. We may want to know his identity. But for Insurance Journal and Coalition Against Insurance Fraud to specifically mention it in the article and headline is insensitive at best, and offensive at worst.

What an uneducated statment to make. Our prisons are full of many individuals who grew up in poverty-like conditions and are mostly minor drug related offences (don\’t even get me on that tangent). This has nothing -NOTHING- to do with ethnicity or race, but generally class status and education.

Please leave your discriminatory and inflamatory comments at the door next time – none of us want to hear it. I would hope we are beyond that sort of thinking here in the US.

Another of many examples of foreigners abusing our open, Capitalistic system. Nigerians are famous for this.
Anyone with half a brain knows that superjuster is right.
Tree huggers might not, their idea of a catastrophic event is their airconditioning unit going on the blink for an hour.

    Rosie,

It\’s not necessarily that they\’re all the same person, they just all go off the same talking points memo…that\’s why they all sound like they share a brain.

I think that one of the earlier comments hit the nail on the head. There is a vast difference in cultural mores. With the \”average\” Nigerian making the equivalent of $1 per day, getting out of Nigeria and into the US is unattainable for all but a very few. There are three types of people who get here. (1) Entirely honest individuals who have family money from credible sources, (2) those who have put together a pile of money from less than credible sources and (3) those who are the chosen representative of a whole village (that pools it\’s money and dispatches a Nigerian \”Robin Hood\” into the US Sherwood forest. The Nigerian criminal activity in the US is eminating from groups 2 and 3 above. By scamming one American of $10,000 — an entire village can eat for a long time, or build a school, or equip a hospital. It is a tribal mentality in its basest form. (I traveled to Lagos to write an \”on site\” fraud story about 4-1-9 scams … and during that process learned a great deal about the country, its people and the crimes being committed.) Comparing the morality of (some of) our Nigerian immigrants — to — the general morality of a born/bred US citizen, is like comparing an apple to a pogo stick. You just can\’t.
