For attorneys and others interested in learning about the state’s workers’ compensation law, the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth (DLEG) and the State Bar of Michigan have teamed up to sponsor a two-part seminar series about workers’ compensation in mid-August.
“This no-cost seminar series is for newcomers to the workers’ compensation field as well as those who are experienced,” Jack A. Nolish, director, Workers’ Compensation Agency, said. “The series will cover the basics of the state’s workers’ compensation law and refresher information for experienced practitioners.”
The seminar series will be held on two consecutive Fridays, August 11 and 18. Each session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
“We have lined up some of Michigan’s best known workers’ compensation experts to participate in the seminar,” Nolish said.
The series will cover Michigan’s Workers’ Compensation Act and case decisions; workers’ compensation trial practices; a mock trial; the medical area of workers’ compensation; and a rapid fire seminar and panel of workers’ compensation experts.
The seminar will be held in Detroit and be teleconferenced to sites in Grand Rapids, Lansing and Saginaw. As seating is limited, reservations are required to attend and must be made by Monday, July 31. Reservations are being accepted by Donna Allix at (313) 456-3664.
