Pembina County (North Dakota) Emergency Manager Rebecca Ault reassured residents on Saturday, Aug. 20, that emergency services are in place after fire and water damages occurred to the Pembina County Courthouse and Law Enforcement Center on Friday, Aug. 19.
Local residents are advised that the 9-1-1 telephone system is functioning as normal, and that emergency service paging and radio systems are up and running. Although the fire warning siren was reportedly out of service, the severe weather warning siren is working and will also be temporarily used for fire emergencies.
The Pembina County Courthouse will be closed Monday, Aug. 22, and Tuesday, Aug. 23, while damage assessment and initial repairs take place. Individuals and businesses are instructed to call (701) 265-8720, located in the Cavalier City Office, to conduct county business during normal hours until further notice.
