    i am 51 years old and i consider myself able to make my own decisions regarding personel safety.I am a veteran and beleive in people making their own dcisions not being dictated by state or federal government.Also my understanding is that motorcyclists pay into catastrophic claims but cannot collect from this fund?

    The last I checked with my agent he told me the MCCA charge on my bike insurance is kinda bogus because unless you hit a car or a car hits you MCCA won\’t kick in but if you\’re driving a car instead of a bike it\’ll cover contact with dang near everything like deer, a tree, building, another vehicle, etc. but on a bike you\’re pretty much screwed.

    Aside from the primary issue of whether the government owns you …
    – Seatbelts are proven effective, and helmets aren\’t. (3% of bikers in accidents die, regardless of helmet law.)
    – You can forget you\’re wearing a seatbelt, but a helmet becomes more uncomfortable with each passing minute.
    – You can go for years without wearing a seatbelt and never get caught, but see how long you can get away without wearing a helmet.
    – People who don\’t have to wear helmets love helmet laws. (a.k.a. hypocrites.)

    The last time I remembered I was living in the U.S. the land of the free and freedom of choice.Its been a long time since that has been the case.If the Goverments Federal and States didnt have laws to protect me from myself other people would\’nt need to give me there opinions.What happened to certain unalienable rights.We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,–That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.Its not the helmet LAW thats the problem it is what it represents to many americans. I wonder what are fore fathers would say if they could see us now. But as always money makes the rules its a sad statement

    hi i think this is a bunch of crap .there are taking all of our rights away, I dont think you should be forced to wear a seat belt or a helmet this is another wat for them basterds to make more ******** money, and not use it for the roads and wealso need a new govenor thank you

    I am for one REAL tired of people who never have or never will ride a motorcycle telling me the helmet law is for my own good I wish they would just leave me alone I am minding my own business so I wish they would mind theirs. The only reason there is even a helmet law is to take away more money from those of us who have a opinion and chose not to wear the helmet.

    I am a biker. 40 bikes and 38 years a biker since 16 and bought a 90cc.
    I belive those that ride should decide.
    The Non bikers are involved because they think Bikers are uninsured and they will pay perceved additional medical bills. They dont care about my medical bills I paid for neck and back strain from wearing a 2 lb helmet on my head dragging into the wind crushing my vertibra out of allignment. I would like to lawfully ride down my street to my neighbors, or an occational freeway ride with out the pain.
    Bet the cage drivers enjoy lower gas prices because we bikers use less than our share of gas to keep the demand down. Also, SUV drivers should wear helmets cause those things roll over.

    In response to david leveque\’s comment… Yes David, I have owned a Ducati and 2 Moto Guzzi\’s. I have recently changed my stance on this subject though. If you\’d like the freedom to choose, I say go for it! Evolution will eventually raise the mean intelligence quotient of the biker community…
