Canada plans to raise the amount of damages the country’s nuclear operators would be liable to pay in the event of an accident to C$1 billion ($980 million).
Natural Resource Minister Joe Oliver, speaking in Toronto today, said the government intends to introduce legislation that would raise the cap from its current level of C$75 million, according to the prepared text of his speech.
