An official says a tornado in central Indonesia has killed three villagers and injured at least 49 others.
Disaster Management Agency official Abdul Rasyid said Saturday that the storm struck a village in Sidrap district on Sulawesi island late Friday and flattened dozens of houses, making 215 people homeless.
Rasyid said a woman was found dead in the rubble of her house and two other people died in a hospital.
He said 49 people were hospitalized with injuries, including cuts, broken bones and head wounds.
Tornadoes are common in Indonesia but are rarely deadly.
