A spokesman for Munich airport says a Singapore Airlines flight with some 200 passengers aboard slid off the runway just after landing but nobody was injured.
Peter Pruemm says it is still unclear why the Boeing 777 arriving from Manchester, England, slid off the runway into the grass shortly after touching down at midday Thursday.
He says firefighters safely evacuated all passengers and the plane appears not to have suffered great damage.
Pruemm adds it was not immediately clear with what speed the plane slid off into the grass.
He says one of the airport’s two runways remains shut pending the plane’s removal – likely causing major delays and some cancellations at Germany’s second-largest hub.
