Police say a dump truck carrying boy scouts to a regional jamboree has collided with a passenger bus, killing three people in the southern Philippines.
Police Inspector Jose Andy dela Cruz says the dead include at least one boy scout and a school security officer. Police have not confirmed the identity of the third victim.
Dela Cruz says at least nine other people, mostly boys, were injured in Wednesday’s road accident in Siay town in Zamboanga Sibugay province.
Dela Cruz says one of two dump trucks filled with boy scouts tried to overtake the other then rammed onto an incoming passenger bus. The impact hurled the children off the truck.
He says the accident traumatized many of the children, who were looking forward to a weekend of camping.
