Canada’s Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board (YWCHSB) announced the appointment of Valerie Royle as its new president and CEO. The appointment takes effect Oct. 3.
Royle has held senior positions with the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission of Newfoundland and Labrador since 1993. She has been executive director, Worker Services since 2001. In that position, she has been responsible for areas such as stakeholder consultation, policy development and training. She has led the implementation of PRIME, an incentive program that promises a financial savings for employers who follow good prevention and return-to-work practices.
Former YWCHSB President and CEO, Tony Armstrong, resigned in May, following several months of medical leave. Gerry Meier has been acting president and CEO since January.
