The State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council plans to meet this week in Albany to discuss possible updates in New York’s codes.
The Thursday meeting at Empire State Plaza Convention Center is scheduled for a live webcast starting at 10 a.m., open to the public and will be taped for later viewing.
According to the New York Department of State, the council will discuss future updates to both the Uniform Codes and the Energy Code.
It may also adopt provisions related to structures where “sparkling devices” are manufactured, stored, sold or used.
A law passed last year updated New York’s definitions of fireworks to legalize sparklers.
