Maine officials are racing to repair damage caused by a leak on the top floor of the Statehouse before the Legislature’s swearing-in ceremony this week.
Grant Pennoyer, executive director of the Legislative Council, tells the Maine Public Broadcasting Network that a leak on the fourth floor of the Capitol building has caused damage to some committee rooms, the House Republican office and part of Gov. Paul LePage’s office.
Leaks have caused problems in the Statehouse building for years.
Pennoyer says he hopes the damage will be cleaned up before new lawmakers are sworn in on Dec. 3.
