A 4-by-4-foot hole has forced part of a bridge to close in Brattleboro, Vermont.
An engineer is expected to inspect the Elliot Street bridge over the Whetstone Brook on Tuesday.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports the bridge was built in 1946 was at the top of the town’s list of bridges that will probably need to be replaced.
A pedestrian walking over the bridge noticed the hole on the deck of the two-lane bridge Monday.
