Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey and local police and fire chiefs are starting holiday campaigns against drunken driving and prescription drug abuse.
Morrissey, other public safety officials, the Norfolk County Prescription Drug Task Force and the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission’s chief investigator are scheduled to officially launch the programs Monday at Patriot Place in Foxboro, Mass.
The impaired driving prevention campaign aims to reinforce the importance of safe service of alcohol by licensed liquor establishments in Norfolk County. Morrissey’s “Observe, Don’t Overserve” campaign is a partnership with local chiefs and alcohol-serving establishments.
The Pharmacy Outreach Project-Prescription Drug Safety Initiative encourages pharmacists to use the Prescription Monitoring Program before dispensing medications. Pharmacies will be asked to promote safe storage and disposal of medications by distributing instructions to consumers with new prescriptions.
