Delaware troopers were busy this past weekend cracking down on traffic violations during a multistate enforcement safety initiative along Interstate 95.
The Drive to Save Lives initiative was a one-day effort involving police in all 15 states along the I-95 corridor.
In a span of eight hours Saturday, Delaware troopers issued 1,146 traffic citations for offenses including speeding, aggressive driving, unsafe lane changing and other dangerous moving violations.
The initiative was undertaking in support of a nationwide campaign by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and is aimed at reducing highway fatalities by 15 percent this year.
