A contract worker has been sentenced to a fine and community service for an explosion at a suburban New York college that hurt eight people.
The Journal News says Douglas Walker of South Nyack pleaded guilty to a violation Monday in connection with the June 5 explosion at Nyack College.
Utility officials said ground work damaged a gas line, allowing gas to seep into a campus building through pipes and drains.
The injured included five college employees, two students and a South Nyack-Grand View police officer.
