Dead Worker’s Wife Sues Metro-North for $30M

The widow of a Metro-North worker who was struck and killed by a train last May is suing the railroad for $30 million.

The lawsuit accusing the railroad of negligence was filed Friday in federal court in Connecticut by Hannah Luden, the widow of Robert Luden.

Luden, a track foreman, was killed on May 28 by a passenger train in West Haven, Conn. The National Transportation Safety Board has said he had requested a track section be taken out of service for maintenance, and the section was placed back in service too soon by a student traffic controller who didn’t have the required approval.

Metro-North spokeswoman Marjorie Anders said she had not seen the lawsuit and the railroad does not comment on pending litigation.
