Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proposed two tough new measures intended to keep dangerous drivers off the road by taking their licenses.
In his State of the State address, the Cuomo said he wants a one-year license suspension for anyone under 21 caught texting while driving.
He said Wednesday that texting remains the chief cause of young drivers’ fatal crashes despite previous measures and penalties against it.
Cuomo also wants to yank the driver’s licenses for five years of anyone caught driving drunk twice within three years and permanently cancel the license of those caught three times in their lives.
