Maryland Salvation Army Store Fire Causes $500K in Damage

A 4-alarm fire has heavily damaged the Salvation Army store in Cambridge, Md.

The blaze broke out about 1 p.m. Monday. Customers told employees about the fire and everyone escaped safely.

More than 125 firefighters from four counties battled the blaze for almost three hours.

Officials say the fire heavily damaged a 2-story section that held furniture and unoccupied apartments on the second floor. An attached structure that held clothing sustained smoke and water damage.

There were no injuries. Damage is estimated at $500,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
