Sons of Pennsylvania Drowning Victim Sue Property Owner

The sons of a 73-year-old woman who drowned after falling into a suburban Philadelphia, Pa., creek during a party have filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

The Bucks County Courier Times reports that Jean Carson of Bensalem was at a Dec. 19 party when she went outside for a cigarette and fell into Neshaminy Creek. Her body was found downstream in the Delaware River the following day and her death was ruled an accidental drowning.

A lawsuit filed in Bucks County Court against property owner Edward Brodecki says that Brodecki should have known supplying alcohol to Carson made her vulnerable to a fall into the creek. The suit says that Carson had gone outside to a bench at the rear of Brodecki’s property, a short distance from the edge of a drop-off into the creek.

Brodecki declined comment Thursday to The Associated Press.
