Seven people have been taken to a hospital after a man discharged a fire extinguisher in Atlantic City’s Public Safety Building.
People are returning after the building, which houses police and fire officials, was evacuated Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Monica McMenamin tells The Press of Atlantic City the man who discharged the extinguisher was taken into custody. His name has not been released.
McMenamin says five law enforcement personnel and two civilians were hospitalized, mostly for inhalation of the chemicals.
The police sergeant says most of the damage was to the press conference room on the building’s fourth floor, which is near to the Public Safety Director and Fire Department offices.
