Connecticut state police say they’ve responded to 327 accidents, charged 56 people with DUI and issued more than 1,400 speeding tickets over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Troopers say two of the crashes were fatal. One person died in an accident on Route 8 in Beacon Falls early Sunday morning, and another was killed in a wreck on Interstate 691 in Southington on Saturday afternoon.
State police say they also cited drivers for more than 2,700 hazardous moving violations including unsafe lane changes, tailgating and illegally using cell phones. Another 80 people were ticketed for failing to wear seat belts.
Troopers began increased traffic enforcement efforts early Wednesday morning and will continue the extra patrols through Sunday night.
