Virginia Museum Closed by Flooding to Reopen

The Virginia Living Museum is reopening following a cleanup from flooding.

Museum executive director Page Hayhurst says the flooding from a severe storm on Saturday caused more than $500,000 in damage.

No animals were injured.

It’s the second time this year that flooding has damaged the museum in Newport News. Flash floods in May caused $250,000 in damage.

Media outlets report that the museum will seek public donations to help cover a $50,000 insurance deductible for the latest repairs.

The upper level galleries and Dinosaur exhibit will reopen Tuesday. But the lower level will remain closed while repairs are made.
