OSHA Alleges Safety Violations at New Hampshire Outlet

Federal officials are proposing over $173,000 in fines for alleged safety violations against contractors who worked on a new retail outlet complex in New Hampshire.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration proposed the fines after conducting an inspection of the site in January. The Merrimack Premium Outlets opened to the public in June.

Alleged violations include exposing construction workers to electric shocks and falls from as high as 20 feet; a failure to supply fire extinguishers throughout the site; and a lack of inspections to correct hazards. The violations were issued against the general contractor Atlanta-based Hardin Construction, and nine subcontractors.

Each employer has 15 business days to respond to OSHA.
