Virginia officials say four people, including a rescue diver, were injured when a pleasure boat caught fire on the James River.
Multiple media outlets report that it happened Saturday night near Dutch Gap. Eight people were aboard the boat, about a quarter mile offshore. A witness told WTVR that everyone jumped into the water after the boat caught fire, and people could be heard screaming for help.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that two boaters were taken to area hospitals suffering burns. Lee Williams of Chesterfield Fire & EMS told the newspaper one of them was recovered under water. Another boater suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Williams said a Chesterfield diver sustained what were believed to be minor injuries.
It was not immediately clear how the fire started.
