The Maryland State Fire Marshal says a school bus caught on fire in Chestertown after a student lit a road flare.
School officials say the driver and all 28 students on board got off the bus, although six or seven students were treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire marshal’s office says the bus caught on fire about 9:30 a.m. Monday while the bus was on Route 20 near Broadneck Road in Chestertown. Police say the student believed to have lighted the flare was being questioned.
