The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death of a quarry worker near Hagerstown, Md.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says 69-year-old Herman Weaver of Clear Spring died Friday after an accident at the Holcim Inc. cement plant.
Sgt. Daniel Faith says Weaver was operating a skid steer loader in a shallow stream. He says Weaver was trapped when the machine ran into a large hole filled with water and became submerged.
Faith says workers found Weaver unconscious with no pulse after they used another piece of equipment to pull his machine from the hole.
