Lawsuit Filed Over 2008 Outbreak at New York Water Park

Some of the more than 600 people who fell ill while visiting an upstate New York indoor water park are part of a class-action lawsuit filed against the business.

The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that the lawsuit was filed Wednesday in a Warren County court by attorneys representing more than 100 of the guests who became ill during the 2008 norovirus outbreak at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Waterpark in Queensbury, 50 miles north of Albany.

The attorneys say the company failed to maintain proper sanitary conditions and didn’t warn guests once the outbreak became known.

State health officials documented more than 600 cases of norovirus in March 2008. Norovirus can cause acute gastrointestinal pain, vomiting and diarrhea lasting one or two days.

Great Escape hasn’t commented on the lawsuit.
