Massachusetts Recalls Cheeses Over Possible Contamination

Massachusetts public health officials are urging consumers not to eat some brands of cheese because they may be contaminated with potentially fatal listeria.

The Canadian-made cheeses under the brand name Fromagerie Marie Kade were sold in markets in Norwood and Worcester and are stamped with the establishment number 1874.

No illnesses have been reported in Massachusetts in connection with the cheese.

The state Public Health department points out that the cheese has not expired, so it may still be in some homes.

Consumers should discard the affected cheese.

Symptoms of listeria include fever, headaches, stiffness and diarrhea.
