Another local school district in Virginia is facing a multimillion-dollar lawsuit over allegations of a child being assaulted on a school bus.
The Daily Progress reports that an Appomattox County mother and her 10-year-old son filed a $31.5 million lawsuit last week against the county, the Appomattox County School Board, the superintendent, the school transportation supervisor and a former bus driver.
According to the lawsuit, Roxanne Haskins’ son was repeatedly assaulted by two older boys on a school bus and the driver didn’t stop the abuse. Haskins’ son was diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
Lawyers representing the county, school board and its employees declined comment Wednesday.
In October, a father filed a $20 million lawsuit against Bedford County Public Schools claiming a bus driver and her assistant physically assaulted his autistic son.
