Police: Alleged Connecticut Arsonist Angry Over Firing

Police say a man accused of setting several fires, including one in which a Fairfield firefighter was hurt, told them he was getting revenge for being fired from his job as an emergency medical technician.

The Connecticut Post reports that Christopher Message was fired after a car accident. According to police reports, he told police the job was his identity, and he became angry when he could no longer do it – particularly at those who still could.

On Friday, a judge ordered the 34-year-old Message held on $3 million bond on charges including three counts of first degree arson.

He’s accused of setting fires at three vacant houses in Fairfield on Thursday. Police say he also confessed to setting other fires.
