Copper Wire Worth $143G Stolen From Tow Lot

Authorities in central New Jersey are investigating the theft of a trailer containing $143,000 worth of copper wire from a towing company’s parking lot.

Perth Amboy Police Lt. David O’Donnell tells the Home News Tribune newspaper that a tractor-trailer carrying 14 reels of the wire from Edison to Clifton broke down around midnight Wednesday near Exit 10 of the New Jersey Turnpike.

King High Garage of Perth Amboy sent out a truck and towed the trailer to its lot.

The trailer and the garage’s tractor were left there around 1 a.m. When the towing company driver returned from another job about a half-hour later, both were gone.
