Authorities say a generator battery has exploded at a warehouse in northeast Washington, D.C., and injured four people.
D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says firefighters were called to the warehouse in the 2800 block of New York Avenue about 8 a.m. Tuesday. He says an industrial battery malfunctioned and exploded while renovations were being done to the building.
Piringer says 25 workers were in the warehouse at the time, and all have been evaluated. He says four workers have been taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Piringer says the building is occupied by the D.C. Department of Public Works.
