Pennsylvania Chiropractor Convicted in 2008 Office Arson

March 3, 2011

A suburban Philadelphia chiropractor is facing at least 15 years in prison after being convicted of arson in the fire that destroyed his practice and at least three other businesses.

A federal jury convicted 59-year-old Jonathan Wiktorchik Jr. of charges including arson and insurance fraud Tuesday in the March 2008 fire in Ottsville, Bucks County.

Prosecutors say Wiktorchik torched his office using gasoline as an audit loomed following a health insurance fraud conviction. Wiktorchik testified that he witnessed three Hispanic men set the fire after a premonition prompted him to go to the office in the middle of the night.

Wiktorchik will remain in custody until his June 3 sentencing.
