An SPCA official in eastern Pennsylvania says investigators are still trying to determine what caused a fire that killed two parrots and injured a cat at an animal shelter.
The Pottsville Republican-Herald reports the blaze was discovered around 9 a.m. Friday in a modular building owned by Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA in Pine Grove.
Jessica Bettinger, president of the SPCA’s board of directors, said Tuesday that state police are still trying to figure out what started the fire, which caused an estimated $30,000 in damage.
Bettinger says the injured cat is being cared for by a privately owned rescue team.
