Arson investigators say a Pittsburgh man faces charges after he tried to start a fire at his home using gasoline, sparking a blaze that destroyed the house.
Investigators say Pepo Mazingi was taken to a hospital with first- and second-degree burns sustained in the fire Saturday night in the city’s Homewood neighborhood. Five other people were taken to hospitals for treatment but none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Firefighters told WTAE-TV that Mazingi tried to light a fire in his fireplace using gasoline. Authorities say he will be charged with careless and reckless burning.
