Vermont lawmakers want to put an S-T-O-P to drivers who text.
Under a deal reached Tuesday between lawmakers, texting by drivers of any age will be banned, starting this summer. And the bill that says so goes a step further for teenagers, who’ll be banned from using any electronic devices while driving, including cell phones.
Gov. Jim Douglas supports the texting ban, though his spokesman tells the Burlington Free he’s less enthusiastic about the other restrictions.
