This feed is a sad commentary on how unsensitive we have become. Human life means so little these days. I really doubt in a few years that people at a family reunion will be laughing and joking about losing thier loved one in such a tragic, painful & frightening manner.

It’s Friday afternoon…I always say laugh or cry…I’d rather laugh myself. It’s sad, but if you can’t find humor in everything no matter how sad, you may as well not live. Hopefully my death won’t be a Darwin situation, but if it is, I hope my family can laugh about it.

I would also suggest a thorough examination of the candy bar before biting into your next Baby Ruth!

A guy falls into a vat of chocolate because he was probably not following company protocols, and his employer is fined $39,000!!! The fine is what’s obscene.

I just paged thru all the comments posted on this tragic situation. How unfortunate that the true meaning of this doesn’t appear to matter to anyone commenting. A 39 year old man dies. Some make jokes, others state he was likely not following safety procedures (employers responsibility to establish & enforce), others think the $$ fine was unjustified, $39K for a horrific & preventable death against an organization that was also fined for no license to conduct business. This sounds like an organization that did not take the entire situation seriously. Not the employees safety, not the laws of the state they were operating in and yes, finally, somewhere there are likely kids, spouse, parents, siblings and friends that will never be able to fill the void the loss of this man has left. All should rethink the “justifications” offered up, for the jokes, callousness and general lack of empathy. This is sad for anyone and all of us.

kitkatsg — I agree. I bet the company owners are feeling they were just cheated in some way and are searching for another unbridled means to get their edge back. Humanity, justice, …$39,000 got them a hit.

I worked for a company that had an employee enter a tank without the proper safety equipment and he collapsed. His supervisor did the same thing to rescue him and both died. The equipment was readily available and warning signs were posted. Both ignored the signs and did not use the equipment. Should the company have been fined by OSHA?
