Husband of Massachusetts Slaying Victim Settles Wrongful Death Suit

A Massachusetts man whose wife was killed by a construction worker at a fast food restaurant has settled a wrongful death lawsuit even as a jury weighed the case.

A lawyer for Thomas Miller tells The Telegram & Gazette newspaper that the settlement was reached Tuesday while the Worcester Superior Court jury was in its second day of deliberations. The lawyer did not reveal terms of the settlement.

Miller filed the suit in 2003 against his wife’s killer, his brother, and the construction company they worked for. Sherylann Miller was fatally stabbed in December 2000 at a KFC-Taco Bell under construction in Clinton. She was the restaurant’s manager and was taking job applications.

Quillie Merle Spray III, a tile setter, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
