A Vermont man is hospitalized with serious injuries after another driver dropped a piece of cake she was eating while behind the wheel and smashed into a disabled car on Interstate 89.
State Police said 26-year-old Adriane Porcin of Montreal reported she dropped a piece of cake while headed south on the highway in Hartford on Friday afternoon, took her eyes off the road to retrieve it and rear-ended a car in the breakdown lane. She suffered minor injuries.
The other driver, 46-year-old John Delgado of Brownsville, Vt., was in the driver’s seat of his car, which had run out of gas. He is hospitalized with spine and rib fractures and a concussion. Police say Delgado will be charged with driving under the influence.
