A small Maine town is going high-tech to alert residents to the threat of flooding.
Officials in Milford have signed the town on to Twitter, a popular networking Web site that will let the town send short text messages to people who are signed up. Milford is located on the Penobscot River north of Bangor.
Fire Chief Chris Matson told WLBZ-TV that he decided to make a Twitter account after reading about people in the Midwest receiving warnings through Twitter. He said he will use Twitter to alert people to things like flood warnings and road closures.
