Police say a pedestrian was injured by ladders that slid off the roof of a van involved in a traffic accident in Lakewood, New Jersey
The van collided with a car at an intersection around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, then smashed a fire hydrant and came to rest against a tree.
The ladders struck 50-year-old Moshe Kreiser, who was walking on the sidewalk. Kreiser remained hospitalized Friday at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was reported in stable condition.
Police say the car’s driver, 21-year-old Moises Hernandez Contreras, ran a stop sign. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Ocean County Jail.
The van’s driver wasn’t injured.
