Police say a homemade bomb was used to start a fire that damaged a pizzeria at a Long Island strip mall.
No one was injured at Apizza Italy in the Handy Pantry Shopping Center on Route 112 in Coram. The restaurant was closed when the blaze was set.
Police say the fire was lit last week in the kitchen of the pizzeria. Coram and Terryville fire departments responded to a call of smoke inside the business about 10 p.m.
Suffolk County police say that the restaurant sustained moderate damaged. They say they found a broken skylight leading to the roof and several bottles containing liquid. Each had a wick.
Police say a homemade bombs may have been dropped through a roof vent.
