The Saputo Cheese USA plant that was damaged by fire is going to be repaired, but company officials say they don’t know how long that will take.
Saputo spokeswoman Karine Vachon says officials are still evaluating the situation following the Monday fire.
But Hinesburg Fire Chief Al Barber says it will be at least two months before the plant is making cheese again.
About 100 people work in the plant. It’s Hinesburg’s third largest employer.
Vermont State Police estimate the fire damage to be more than $2 million.
Officials say the fire started in the second-floor cold storage warehouse. The cause of the fire isn’t know, but it’s not considered suspicious.
