A former Washington County, Pennsylvania borough president has been sentenced to two to four years in prison for embezzling $260,000 from a grocery store.
Prosecutors say 47-year-old Scott Byron Gray worked at Interstate Foodland in Canton Township for about 20 years and was promoted in 1998 to a management position where he handled store finances.
Authorities say an audit showed Gray kept one set of account records he sent to the store accountant and another set he gave management.
Gray is a former president of West Alexander Borough Council. He pleaded guilty in January to theft, receiving stolen property and forgery.
Gray also was sentenced to four years’ probation and ordered to repay the store.
