Trials Set in Fallout from Maine Crash That Killed 6

Two people charged in connection with a Poland, Maine car crash that killed six people on Christmas Eve 2006 are scheduled to go on trial next month.

Twenty-eight-year-old Ryan Brissette of Poland is accused of allowing a group of including the driver and at least nine others who were under age to drink at his home, and 20-year-old Samantha Renee Montana of Lewiston is accused of giving her keys to the man who caused the crash.

Assistant District Attorney Deborah Cashman says plea negotiations are continuing with both defendants, so it’s possible there could be a plea agreement.

Michael Cournoyer, the driver accused of causing the crash, was operating with a suspended license and was intoxicated. Killed along with Cournoyer were his three passengers, along with two victims who were in the other car.
