A New Hampshire jury has found that the organizers of Laconia’s Bike Week are not responsible for the injuries of two pedestrians who were hit by a motorycle during the 2004 motorcycle festival.
Denise Cole and Valerie Lennon, who had already reached a settlement with the driver of the motorcycle, had sued the city and the organizers, saying the accident was a result of negligence. The two said they spent about $130,000 on medical care as a result of the accident.
A passenger on the motorcycle died in the accident. The driver, Brett Phillips, is in jail after pleading guilty to negligent homicide in that death.
