yes, your solution makes sense; that’s why the assemblyman didn’t think of it!

I have been reading your posts for some time and found them to be thoughtful commentary, regardless of whether I agree or not. So I wanted to let you know that I empathize with your quandary of having two choices, horrible and terrible and wanted to share with you how I solved my problem in the most recent local election here in Pennsylvania: I wrote in a name for two particular offices, one for someone who may run in a couple of years when he retires from the public defender’s office; and for the other I voted for myself!

It will never happen but wouldn’t it be a nice show of how little respect we have for our politicians if we had THREE choices for office, the third being-‘none of the above’. Then, if ‘none of the above’ won we would have to nominate two other candidates. Ah, for the perfect world. Seriously, though, it is a shame that colleges have political science courses to teach future politicians the lessons todays idiots practice.

    Dear Patrock:

I have expertise in this area… yes I design auto identification cards for my employer. I have 51 that I have designed, all the same size! Do you know what it will take for me to change just one ID card? Here… I’ll dumb it down for you:

    1) Look for new paper stock that is perferated to match the new size and that matches the current watermark and other security measures for anti-counterfeiting. $$$$$ If I can’t find one, pay extra money to have one developed. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
    2) Have my staff work to shrink down all that information to the itty bitty font that will fit on the itty bitty card. $$$$$
    3) File the new cards with your insurance department (and wait for approval)(I have to pay staff to do the filings as well)$$$
    4) Now program all my systems to produce the new cards, mutliple systems and lots of not so cheap programming labor to do it. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Then VOILA… NEW ITTY BITTY CARD!

Nope… no savings being passed on to consumers here…sorry :(

    My opinion: Your idea stinks!
(But thanks for the job security)

PS: Do I qualify for that show “Dirty Jobs”?

Thanks for the compliment, Stat Guy. It’s a comfort to know I’m not the only disgruntled voter out there.

I still think we as voters should set out to annoy annoy annoy our reps until they get the message that we aren’t dicking around. Let’s start contacting these butt-heads (yes, I said butt-heads) on a weekly basis and let them know how displeased we are with their actions (or lack thereof).

We can get phone numbers and email addresses at http://www.votesmart.org . No go forth and be a pest! LOL
